Sweater Weather Outfit No. 2: How I Wear My Casual Grey Turtleneck

casual grey turtleneck

Turtlenecks have never impressed me much until now. Gone are the days of the thick, constricting turtleneck sweaters I used to wear as a girl in private school. I’d have to wear them out of necessity during the winter to keep myself warm and abide by the uniform policy, and I almost always wore them with white chunky, cable knit stockings. Needless to say, there was nothing attractive about that look. But, fast forward to today, and I’m putting a different spin on it. With a slimmer fit, this casual grey turtleneck by L.L. Bean Signature provides much-needed warmth without adding any bulk. Read more

Sweater Weather Outfit No. 1: Stripes & Vests on John St.

As someone who doesn’t like the cold much, I’m playing around with different looks to keep my mind off the dropping temperatures and periodic precipitation. As we transition into the colder autumn months, I’m relying on several pieces to keep me warm during a time many deem as “sweater weather” season.

Wardrobe Classics: My Little Green Dress

classic olive sheath dress

Green has never been one of my favorite colors, but this classic olive sheath dress by Karen Scott made me have a change of heart. Its shade of green happens to be the perfect hue, and coming from someone who normally doesn't reach for green, I really like it. The color is not loud or garish and has the same subdued effect of a neutral piece. From its color, length, quality fabric, and figure-flattering shape, this dress is a perfect fit for me.

Get Out of Your Feelings and COMMIT to the Lord

midweek-motivation-image-11

Do you have what it takes to commit? Long-term commitment can be a challenge for someone in a romantic relationship, but the same expectation to commit exists in other relationships, including your relationship with God. The distinction between are human connections and our Godly one is that the latter comes with unique, supernatural, and eternal benefits that surpass anything we could get from a man or woman. So aside from the benefits, why should you commit to the Lord? Let me explain.

Midweek Motivation: Trusting God to Answer Your Call

Scripture for the Week: Psalm 99:6

These past few weeks, it has felt like time has flown by, and the minutes kept slipping through my fingers. My energy was tapped out by all the demands of my day, and I couldn't seem to get a hold of everything. But, in spite of my exhaustion and frustration, I recently took out the time to write my feelings on paper, empty my brain of the stress from the week, and spend some much-needed devotional time with God.

VIDEO: What’s in My Purse?

The contents of a woman's purse can reveal everything you need to know about her. If you take a peak inside my bag, you'll see that I like my things to be organized in cute, feminine packaging, that I carry enough pens and lipstick for myself and five other people, and that I pack like a Girl Scout on her way to a weekend-long trip. In other words, I like to be prepared for anything and look cute while I'm out and about. My love for handbags started quite early. Ever since I was a little girl, I've been obsessed handbags, especially satchels and totes, the bigger, the better. This past summer, I was on the lookout for a pastel purse that was medium in size yet spacious enough for all the junk I carry every day. I found my perfect match in a pale pink Adrienne Vittadini satchel (find it here). To learn more about my purse essentials, watch this video from my YouTube channel.

Have you ever spent hours trying to find what to wear? Capsule wardrobes have solved that problem for me. Although I didn't actually learn the term until recently, I was already familiar with the concept of building a seasonal wardrobe using a handful of staple pieces. As a high-schooler, I'd watched hours of "What Not to Wear" and be mesmerized by how Clinton Kelly and Stacy London could transform someone's look with just a few pieces, creating multiple outfits. Over the past year, capsule wardrobes have become more trendy and mainstream, and with the help of several fashion bloggers and YouTubers, I've learned enough about capsule wardrobes to finally create my own.

The Virtuous Woman’s Guide to Style

about My Virtue modest fashion blogWhat’s the first thing you think of when you hear “modest fashion”? I think of barely there makeup, high collars, long sleeves and flowing, ankle-length skirts (because God forbid any woman to wear pants, just kidding). But really, as a Christian woman, there’s not a lot to glean from in the Bible when you’re looking for modest fashion advice or guidelines that address today’s generation. In fact, there aren’t many verses on how the Proverbs 31 woman dressed, except that she wore “fine linen and purple” (verse 22). She was a wealthy woman with the means to purchase elegant clothes for herself and her family, but where do women fit into the equation today? How can we look cute (even sexy, at times) while upholding the standard of modesty our faith requires? I recommend starting with the following guidelines
