Even though the holiday season has passed, I wanted to share three special occasion outfits I’ve been obsessed with lately. They could easily take you from a holiday office party, to Christmas family dinner, a New Year’s Eve date night or any other special event during the winter season. Each outfit is simple and chic with understated details, and better yet, I created these looks with the same little black dress. For details on how you can replicate these outfits, keep reading.

For the base of each outfit, I chose my fit and flare Calvin Klein dress. I’d been looking for a classic LBD to add to my capsule wardrobe for the longest time, so when I saw this little number at Burlington, I had to snatch it up. To say this dress is versatile would be an extreme understatement. I’ve worn it countless times to special work and networking events, church services, and my first professional job interview. It has served me well in the almost two years that I’ve had it, and with its timeless silhouette and exceptional quality, I know I’ll wear this dress for many more years. I affectionately call it my “Michelle Obama dress” because of its conservative neckline, fitted bodice, pleated skirt, and modest hemline. Considering its many qualities, my little black dress served as a good foundation for each of my special occasion outfits.
For the first look, I paired my dress (similar) with a matching black cardigan (similar), opaque tights, suede Mary Jane pumps, and a multicolored blanket scarf (similar) to add a special pop to this otherwise monochromatic outfit. To complete the look, I wore a mauve-y pink lip gloss by Boss Lady in the shade “Peaceful.” (By the way, you can learn more about Boss Lady lip gloss here.)
For the second outfit, I wore a crisp white button-up blouse to contrast with my LBD, tights, and pumps. To break up the neutral tones, I wore a rich red lip gloss by Boss Lady in the shade “Passion.”
For the third and final look, I layered a sparkly white sweater (similar, similar) over the dress. Overlapping a top over your favorite dress is an easy way to breathe new life into a frequently worn piece.
